SAR Remote Base

The SAR Remote Base/Repeater was desinged and built as a portable unit to be deployed during search operations. It is housed in a rugged aluminum weather resistant case and can be operated from any 12 to 16 volt DC power source. It is designed around three Motorola SM-50 mobile radios, one VHF and two UHF. They are shock mounted in the aluminum case along with a UHF duplexor and a dual-band diplexor in a configuration that allows use of a single dual-band antenna (see block diagram).

The package includes a deep cycle battery and a charger that will keep the battery charged from the Communication Van power system during storage. During deployment we have our choice of using a Larsen dual-band NMO style magnetic mount antenna or a Diamond dual-band omnidirectional base station antenna with tripod.
